About

The Cayman Amateur Radio Society (CARS) was formed in 1979 by eight resident hams and has had its club shack in Savannah since 1990. It promotes amateur radio in the Cayman Islands through weekly nets, Field Day, contests, Parks on the Air activations and Jamboree on the Air, and maintains repeater infrastructure, a QSL bureau and technical support. The club has a long record in emergency communications during hurricanes affecting Cayman and other Caribbean islands, coordinates licence testing with OfReg, and is building an island-wide off-grid Meshtastic messaging mesh. Membership is open to both resident and visiting operators, with support offered to travelling hams and DXpedition teams.
