About

The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) works towards vibrant oceans and healthy coral reefs through research and education. Its restoration programme, established in 2012, includes a coral nursery and science-based restoration work looking at the factors that influence reef resilience. CCMI also runs an ocean literacy programme for local students from primary to tertiary level, along with public engagement such as its Reefs Go Live broadcasts, World Ocean Day activities and reef report cards. The institute is based at a field station in Little Cayman, which hosts visiting researchers and staff.
