The Young Caymanian Leaders Foundation is a non-profit organisation formed by people concerned about community leadership and the development of today's youth into tomorrow's leaders. Its stated mission is to restore and promote the societal values, principles and practices on which the Caymanian identity was built — among them belief in God, the importance of family, strong character, ethics and good stewardship — and to pass these on to the next generation. The Foundation runs the Young Caymanian Leadership Award, whose recipients are chosen from finalists nominated by the community and honoured at an annual gala. Following a review involving a public survey, focus groups and stakeholder interviews, the board postponed the 2019 award and set out to reimagine the programme for 2020 and beyond.
